From Roman Baths to the Contemporary SPA: Wellness Has Always Been a Journey
12 August 2026
A SPA shouldn’t be just a space dedicated to relaxation. It should carry a distinct identity, tell a story, and transform wellness into an authentic experience.
This is the core philosophy behind Idume Mediterranean SPA, located inside the prestigious Patria Palace Hotel in the heart of Lecce’s historic center—a project we had the privilege of contributing to through the creation of part of the wellness areas.
A Concept Born from the History of Lecce
The name Idume pays homage to the ancient subterranean river that, according to tradition, silently flows beneath the city of Lecce.
Inspired by this hidden presence, the concept of the SPA positions water as the narrative thread of a sensory journey, forging a deep connection between past and present.
The architecture, natural materials, travertine stone, and ambient lighting enhance the local heritage, creating an intimate, atmospheric sanctuary where every detail contributes to telling a unique story.
Where Architecture and Wellness Meet
Designed by the architecture studio Flore & Venezia, Idume SPA unfolds within the historic spaces of Patria Palace, seamlessly integrating pools, a hammam, a sauna, and dedicated wellness paths.
The hallmark of this project lies not only in the superior quality of the spaces and equipment, but above all in the seamless harmony between architecture, ambiance, and experience.
Water, stone, and light engage in a constant dialogue with the building’s history, turning each environment into a chapter of a larger narrative.
The Nadira Vision: Every SPA Must Have Its Own Identity
For us at Nadira Benessere, Idume SPA stands as a compelling example of what should drive contemporary wellness design.
It is never simply about selecting premium equipment; it is about embedding it within a cohesive design capable of elevating the identity of both the property and its surrounding territory.
Having contributed to the realization of part of Idume’s wellness spaces is a source of great pride, allowing us to be part of a project that fully embodies this vision.
In the hospitality sector, a SPA capable of telling a story becomes far more than an amenity—it is a defining asset, enriching the guest experience while strengthening the hotel’s brand identity.
Because the most beautiful SPAs are not necessarily those that offer the most, but those that have something meaningful to tell.
